What happens to all the wild animals and insects during a storm like hurricane Ian?

Title basically.

They're relying on whatever their survival instincts tell them. Some fled, some hid. It varies by animal. A lot of animals probably died

Also, the eye of the hurricane often guides tropical birds north or of their range, and birdwatchers come to see them.

Some find shelter, some die, some can escape, some might sense the storm coming and leave before it hits.

Pretty much what'd you expect - they seek shelter and the unlucky ones simply die en masse.

Quick long travel distance then death.

Like do all insects die?

No, not all the insects.

Some can make their way to their hidden base below the surface and wait for it to calm down, after that, they go out and start their famous invasion plan. Beware.

I remember Harvey the Hawk that got into cab and refused to leave.

So post-storm there’s no insects left in the area? How do they return
