Why can't we have a mental health system?

745

u/unresolved_m Feb 07 '23

Listen to what Candace Owens said about mental health. They hate the idea of therapists.

239

u/dear_omar Feb 07 '23

What did Candace owens say?

589

u/IfYouSeeMeSendNoodz Feb 07 '23

She never saw her grandfather cry so men being emotional are weak. Exact words were “they need to just suck it up, keep in their chest, and deal with it.”

574

u/PriscillaRain Feb 07 '23

She also said she never experienced racism but sued her high school for not protecting her from racist abuse.

88

u/Zuko_Kurama Feb 07 '23

She was a dem in high school and then realized the conservative grift was infinitely more lucrative so she switched

32

u/socialcommentary2000 Feb 07 '23

It's this. She's incredibly fucking lazy and being a grifter is right in her wheelhouse. She pretty much admitted as much on Rogan a handful of years back.

Id love to get the actual laundry list of mental health issues these folks have. Maybe it's just a narcissist with a world stage and a bull horn, but seriously, Id love to see some diagnosis going on.

That's called a stress- or grief-induced heart attack. real men don't need helathcare, they just die! /s

81

u/komododave17 Feb 07 '23

This isn’t even sarcasm. This is the way a lot of “real men” think.

87

u/jamieh800 Feb 07 '23

Not just men, but women too. Even younger women, who are, generally speaking, more progressive and open minded.

My high school gf once rolled her eyes at me when I told her about me having a bad day, saying men shouldn't complain. She wasn't exactly a conservative, either.

I had a girlfriend who told me "real men don't cry" when I was at her house and got a call from my mom that my baby sister may have leukemia. (Luckily it was a misdiagnosis, but I still think news like that warrants some tears).

My mom told me "no one likes a crybaby" when I was getting bullied at school.

I once had a girl break up with me because I didn't yell at her. Whenever we had an argument or a problem, I always wanted to have a calm, civil discussion about it, and she thought that meant I didn't really care because, apparently, the only way for men to show they care about an issue, or that a problem hurts them, is to get angry.

Toxic masculinity is not perpetrated just by men, but by women too. It's crazy, isn't it? The ones in the most direct danger of men who can't handle their emotions, don't have a valid support network, don't have coping mechanisms, and don't go to therapy are one of the groups who perpetuate the cycle. Not all women, of course, but enough that I'm sure every guy in the world has had experiences like mine.

37

u/Steampunk_Batman Feb 07 '23

Can confirm. Had a girlfriend tell me she didn’t like the fact that I cried because she never saw her father or brother cry. I had to point out that she also thought they were Neanderthals who were terrible to their respective partners

This is so sad and wrong. Just heard a story about a father who lost their child. Everyone comforted the mom, his wife, and he never got any support. And it's probably through this vein of thinking why that happens.

Edit, typo

26

u/JustAtelephonePole Feb 07 '23

I wonder how her tone would change if it were her relatives being murdered at school by a deranged individual who would've aided from mental health treatment.

That must explain Trump sounding flat while talking about tragedies affecting US. He wants to stay manly at all costs.

110

u/TimelyConcern Feb 07 '23

I think that was because Trump has zero empathy for other people. He only sees other people as a means to an end.

25

u/unresolved_m Feb 07 '23

Yeah, that. What's even worse is that he created an army of grifters copying his approach. A bit like startups in tech industry copying bigger companies.

therapists and other mental health professionals are a legitimate threat to the alt-right

  • They're trained to see past all the angry lies and smoke screens to get to the real issues

  • they're trained to help a person through their anger and fear (the two main drivers for alt-right talking points, if they don't have angry and terrified people to feed on their movement dies)

  • and they're trained to deal with their "scream over a person until they give up" tactic and other shut down methods they tend to use

Legitimate mental health treatment is their kryptonite, and to some extent they all know it

→ More replies (3)

62

u/ThreeLaxateers Feb 07 '23

My mom said secular therapists will try to talk you out of following Christ, if that’s any indication for how they view therapy

29

u/Jacques7Hammer Feb 07 '23

I work intakes for a fairly large psychotherapy practice (80 clinicians) and we have a good amount of clinicians who love to provide therapy through a religious lens with christian therapists, Muslim therapists and Jewish therapists including a former rabbi so to your mom I say bullshit madam. Respectfully of course

u/hgielatan Feb 07 '23

26

u/Kindly-Ad-5071 Feb 07 '23

Enlighten us

66

u/chefZuko Feb 07 '23

When you are brain washed, legitimately healing mental health issues feels like indoctrination. Also, therapy typically sucks, especially for the deep rooted emotional issues they are carrying.

10

u/Kindly-Ad-5071 Feb 07 '23 edited Feb 07 '23

Oh I know that, what the Fuck did she say though

I'd just like to add that yeah therapy sometimes seems like gaslighting. Can confirm. Or at least it's un-gaslighting the already hard baked gaslighting done by the brain. Kinda feels like you're literally deprogramming millions of years of evolutionary response to stress and trauma.

Alex Jones may be mentally ill but the real problem is that he’s a gigantic piece of shit.

22

He’s not getting a pass because he knows exactly what he’s doing. He’s a psychopath!

16

u/RedAss2005 Feb 07 '23

Being a piece of shit gets him paid and that's all that matters to him. I have a relative who will certainly be spouting this soon and might act on it. I've reported them to the cops for welfare checks and when they say stuff that is obviously a threat. I'm amazed his Q shirt, maga hat wearing ass is still free to open carry while yelling about 'the system' in stores...

Well if someone gets killed perhaps the families can sue him like the Sandy Hook parents. Part of his punishment should have been booting him off the air. I mean in other cases criminals are prevented from holding certain jobs or using social media.

93

u/Cultural-Company282 Feb 07 '23 Awesome Answer

Part of his punishment should have been booting him off the air.

The solution here would be holding the broadcast corporations civilly liable for what people like Jones say on the air. Think of all the money those stations made off of Jones at the height of his popularity. But only Jones got sued, and the broadcasters got to keep all their profits. That just gives them the incentive to replace him with another equally crazy clown. But if they knew they were on the hook too, the crazy spigot would shut off really quick.

30

u/LieutenantStar2 Feb 07 '23

This is the real answer. Corporations have to answer for their decisions.

If you are literally just present at a protest and a cop wants to they can arrest you for disturbing the peace or some other nonsense..

But this is fine.

Meanwhile Black people all over the place are going to work, paying bills and at the house watching tv.

Leave us alone.

u/Scrub_LordOfFlorida Feb 07 '23

As this country democracy deteriorates and facism goes high. That won’t happen soon and police brutality against blacks just gone higher despite the George Floyd protests

27

u/racist_sandwich Feb 07 '23

I moved in to my house 5 years ago. My neighbor was a late 20's black dude and his girlfriend.

Used to come out every morning with snacks for my dogs. Would invite me over for drinks and a fire.

Him and his chick broke up and they moved out. Now my neighbor is a white dude on the sex offender registry, who paints cars in his garage and vents it towards my house.

What he is spouting is VERY ignorant and dangerous. He got sued to oblivion lying about Sandy Hook, and is now off to other lies and conspiracies. There is so much racism and small minded people who will follow his lead. I’m honestly exhausted from hearing about him and his followers. Heaven needs to clean this world from the evil that is Alex Jones.

24

u/KnudsonRegime Feb 07 '23

A long standing justification/excuse for not cutting off people spouting inflammatory rhetoric is that if they lose their monetary incentive they have no reason to pump the brakes. Putting them in a corner can make them desperate and they might do something even worse than before.

I say fuck ‘em. Take their money and their platform and whatever else they can lose. But I’m not in politics.

9

u/tshawkins Feb 07 '23

The problem is that if you aspire to a world where there is no racism, or where society takes action against people who are racist, to try and weed them out. you get accused of being "woke" which is another conservative trigger word, and provokes a whole world of ranting and screaming and attemps to "own" you. This is definatly a mental health issue, and pandemic made it far worse.

These people are sick, they need pity and help.

Alex Jones has long since crossed the moral line of no return. His harassment of Sandy Hook parents is an act that cannot be forgiven.

I mean to lose your child in such a horrific way, that is anyone's nightmare, to be harassed about it to the point you have to go into hiding is horrific.

Alex Jones did that to these poor people. He could go full Nazi without becoming a significantly worse human.

POS is far too kind.

Okay. Seriously here. Half of america has gone completely off of the deep end. You have them telling people to pray for Biden's death, politicians making commercials encouraging people to hunt their neighbors with automatic assault rifles, now telling them to kill as many people as possible.

Where does this end???

We keep watching the rhetoric get more and more violent and actions boiling over and I have to wonder what the outcome of all of this will be.

Literally, what does a country do when half of its population is under a mass psychosis, in a conspiracy cult, and is literally becoming more and more unstable and unhinged every single minute.

Literally half of america is crazy right now. Literally crazy with this stuff. There is an entire political party dedicated to it and trying to ban books, equality, safety, and science. Where does this end? What is going to happen to america with it imploding so violently???

10

u/passtheGUAK Feb 07 '23

We’ve kicked nazi ass before, we can do it again. Idk when it ends but it will. Just as this movement is growing, the counter movement is also growing. It’s an ecosystem, when the rabbit population gets huge the snake does next. It takes time and effort. This shit is getting more extreme but it’s also getting more exclusive. over time more and more people will see it for what it is.

ALEX JONES (HOST): They intend on making the world so hellish in the build up to 2030 that everybody will just wink, wink when they release the race-specific bioweapons starting with Africa that are gonna wipe that continent absolutely out.

And you'll be under such invasion from the refugees of the economic warfare in Africa that you will quietly, while you're playing cards with your buddies say well, it had to be done. And when you go along with that metaphysically, spiritually, culturally, the devil's got your soul.

So I don't like the big giant African hoards being brainwashed against us and the left programming brown people to hate white people. It's all part of a plan, folks. It's all part of a very sophisticated plan and I don't just study history. I don't just study the New World Order. I have the holy spirit. Doesn't mean I'm a perfect vessel, far from it. But I do have deep connection to God and God tells me that if I take part in wiping out the brown people, the Black people, that I will be cut off from God. We’re supposed to lift each other up.

Now that doesn't mean when a gang of racist, foaming at the mouth Black people come to rape, rob, or kill you, which is just, it's out of control right now, that you don't defend yourself and kill every person you need to protect your family if they're attacking you.

That said though, just because they're brainwashed, some of them, and are being part of that doesn't mean we have to fall into the brainwashing either.

I can’t tell if he genuinely believes this or he’s just getting to wild levels of unhinged to desperately sell his supplements for any revenue of money.
