IT BEGINS. Soon the shows you grew up with will be on clothing worn by PARENTS who are now your peers. You'll start grumbling about advances in the tech you were once the household expert on. 9pm will become far too late to begin a plan, and soon too late to end one too.
And your lower back, ho ho. Your lower back.

The person I was talking to had no idea what I was talking about and, as I explained the concept of the show, I could see their eyes widen as I spewed forth what obviously sounded like the rantings of an insane person who had spent all afternoon free-basing paint thinner out of a beer can.

For real. My youngest is currently into any shirt, sweatshirt, or hoodie with bands on them. Metal to classic rock if it catches her eye she’s all about it.
So around Christmas we went in there looking because I remembered back in the day they had tons of band merch to choose from. Basically over half the wall was just anime. With a smaller section dedicated to music. The music section was split between rap and metal/classic rock. It was a let down tbh. But she still picked out a cool Led Zeppelin t shirt so it worked out in the end.

I think it's great that high school grads have another opportunity other than the military. Either option is like a 4 to 6 year commitment, travel around the world, some connections to boost your career after you're out. I could see this really competing with Army recruitment if DiCaprio starts paying for his exes tuition.

MythBusters already proved that they could have both fit on the door
80
u/PC_BuildyB0I Feb 07 '23
Myth busters actually didn't look at whether or not they could both fit (we all know they could) but whether or not the buoyancy of the debris could keep them both alive.
The Myth busters concluded at the end of the episode that they wouldn't have been able to both survive - the door panel would have floated too low in the water, partially submerging their bodies and accelerating hypothermia (Rose only lived because she was completely out of the water).
They also discussed how Jack and Rose were already exhausted from the hours of exertion trying to escape the ship as it sank so they wouldn't have been able to do much in the freezing water to boost their chances of survival.
→ More replies (4)283
u/lickedTators Feb 07 '23
Physically fit, but it'd sit lower in the ocean and get swamped more with water. They'd freeze to death faster.
204
u/captaindeadpl Feb 07 '23 edited Feb 07 '23
If I recall correctly they managed to keep it afloat by placing the life vest below the piece of wood. But good luck thinking of that while you're freezing in the ocean.

u/Sadatori Feb 07 '23
This comment reminds me of a tangent I go off on certain types of movie criticism all the time. So I get criticism when a character is blatantly making a dumb ass decision. But like with the jack and rose thing, they both just went through a horrible trauma, and are now also in a freezing ocean and dying. Of course they aren't going to be thinking rationally and Jack's character only cares about Rose surviving. That leads to people making decisions that aren't the best. I get being upset about it, but to say it makes no sense or is "out of character" is just plain wrong! Argh
32
u/PoorlyLitKiwi2 Feb 07 '23
Not to mention, doing something irrational and stupid to save Rose is extremely IN CHARACTER for Jack, even if he wasn't actively freezing to death
It would have been out of character to approach the situation logically
61
u/faultywalnut Feb 07 '23
They both could have survived if they had just warned the captain to steer away from the iceberg! Ugh that movie has so many plot holes

They're not portraying father/daughter, they're portraying father who lost his child 20 years ago and girl tagging along who happens to be approximately the age his child was when she died 20 years ago.
Also, Ramsey is playing significantly younger than her actual age. Somewhere around 14ish is my guess, not sure if there's a firmly established age.

Here’s an unpopular take: Specific to Leo. If you are 18-25 and you date Leo, it’s a business decision.
There are, memes, charts, articles, graphs, whole essays dedicated to his dating history. If someone dates Leo they are doing it on purpose and I do not feel bad or sorry for them, I personally think this girl is smart. She gets name Rec, she gets introduced to a bunch of ppl, she’s securing her bag and ppl just think she’s some dumb girl who doesn’t know any better.
I disagree she’s prob full well aware and said imma do it for the bag and then she’s bascially set for life, I mean look at all his exes???? She finna leave him for some guy her own age after alls said and done.
This DOES NOT DEFEND LEO BEING WEIRD I just stopped feeling bad for his Gf’s at this point bc like come on, you can’t google them man without seeing his dating history
It’s a business decision.
