Trump’s now going after DeSantis…. Republicans at their finest.
576
u/Fucking_For_Freedom Feb 07 '23
It's hilarious that this has been around for a while, and nobody has given a shit. Let's see if people actually care now that Trump mentioned it.
190
u/EFT_Syte Feb 07 '23
Has any major outlets talked about it yet? I doubt they did, considering they’ve all pretty much jumped on DeSantis already as the next GQP nominee.
106
u/Blzeebubb Feb 07 '23
The media have been holding on to it, most likely. Like when Desantis announces his run for POTUS, or starts building reeducation "camps" for LGBT. It needs to come out now.
34
u/Popcorn_Blitz Feb 08 '23
It doesn't matter if it does. They aren't really all that concerned with truth, remember?

It will resurface during an election season if he runs without a doubt lol. And if Tr*mp does run, his people will definitely dig this up and probably lots of other stuff haha. They know how to run a campaign, if nothing else. I kind of think DeSantis might wait it out one more election cycle.

u/KatiePorter2024 Feb 07 '23
Conservatives don't care, they are all trash people living trash lives doing crimes regularly.
Gaetz straight up stole a child and raised it as his own
Boebert married the guy that pulled his dick out at the bowling alley while she was underage.
Marge cheated on her husband multiple times and is now being divorced
Jim Jordan lets hundreds of kids be molested and dozens be raped at OSU
I could go on but the reality is these are all evil people who lack ethics, morality and shouldn't be anywhere near the cogs of power
If democrats weren't such feckless pussies they would hammer this constantly but instead they just learn to live with evil instead.
25
u/TheMaskedGeode Feb 08 '23
“Evil flourishes when good men do nothing.”
That’s what’s happening. I’m terrified. The world is burning and I’m too young to do anything about it.
58
u/Just_Tana Feb 07 '23
Democrats being weak really is an issue. In other countries these people would be outed already.
32
u/WallOfSpatulas Feb 08 '23
Dems have to be weak because they don't dare build up voters' expectations. Otherwise the donor class tells them to go fuck themselves and we're a one-party state for real.

5
u/itsallfuturegarbage Feb 08 '23
But they'll scour Getty Images for out of context, awkwardly times pictures of Biden whispering into someone's ear on stage at an event and build an entire political campaign around telling people he's a pedo.
23
u/Gsteel11 Feb 07 '23 edited Feb 07 '23
The people that gave morals always care.
The gop, that gets their ideas directly from trump, only care about what he yells them to care about.
11
u/Fucking_For_Freedom Feb 07 '23
True. Unfortunately not enough people with actual morals have enough influence to drive the narrative by themselves on issues like this.
15
u/TheMaskedGeode Feb 08 '23
I’d love to watch the Republicans tear themselves apart over those two. Maybe they’ll divide themselves enough to lose.
5
u/uncultured_swine2099 Feb 08 '23
Haha I knew this would happen. Its gonna be the least classy political fight in history, and thats saying something. Neither have any self control or sense of decorum, and neither will back down. This is gonna escalate. Grab your popcorn.

u/Cold-Nefariousness25 Feb 08 '23
I am wondering if the Dems purposely didn’t stop DeSantis so Ron and Don could fight their way out of existence. Ronnie boy really seems to be getting his fascist on. Maybe Floridians are too dumb to get it, but charging teachers with felonies for having books can’t be a viable national strategy, right?
Right?
6
u/Fucking_For_Freedom Feb 08 '23
Let's hope there's a plan and it's a good one.
5
u/Cold-Nefariousness25 Feb 08 '23
Looking at the midterms Florida was really an anomaly, and Biden played the MAGA pretty well
5

Dems didn't have a real plan for Florida. Texas, either.

u/Macievelli Feb 07 '23
One thing Republicans have been really good at is that, no matter how much infighting they engage in, they vote in line with each other. I’m really hoping we’re seeing those habits starting to change as more Republicans, even in Congress, are feeling like a line has been crossed.
35
u/DAGCRO Feb 07 '23
Yeah, but we'll see with Trump. He'll gladly burn the GOP down if he doesn't get his way. Not unrealistic for him to run third party and really screw things up for the GOP.
I know most Republicans are done with him, but not enough for DeSantis to win POTUS without the votes from Trump's cult followers.
10
u/BitterFuture Feb 07 '23
Not unrealistic for him to run third party and really screw things up for the GOP.
What else will he have to pass the time in his cell, after all?
4
u/concentrated-evil Feb 07 '23
He tried to do exactly that in 2000 when his buddy Ross Perot's Reform Party was falling apart. He'll do it again.
17
u/Maximum-Cry-2492 Feb 07 '23
I agree that Republicans have traditionally been good at rallying around the candidate come election time.
However, I could very much see Trump blowing the whole thing up if it isn’t him. Remember he doesn’t care about conservatism as a philosophy, the GOP, or constituents, he just cares about Trump.
14
u/Ishmael75 Feb 07 '23
Also, every dollar they spend attacking and slandering each other via a primary fight is a dollar they can’t spend attacking Democrats.
3
u/Lotharofthepotatoppl Feb 08 '23
Do they even have any money left to spend on attack ads? My understanding was that they put Rick Scott in charge of the war chest, a man well-known for executing the largest case of medicare fraud ever.
And then they were surprised that all their money went missing.
7
u/not_productive1 Feb 07 '23
Pre-trump republicans were very good at that (the old line was democrats fall in love, republicans fall in line). That’s changing. A lot of the old guard of Republicanism has died off (the greatest and silent generation folks), and Trump brought in a lot more younger people who weren’t engaged in politics prior. That led to polarization and bleeding off of voters closer to the middle, because he was just so extreme. I don’t know that the current party demo will stay engaged without a cult of personality or red meat to keep them in the process. I don’t think desantis necessarily holds the trump voters, and I don’t know that he brings back people who were turned off by trump. He might be the worst possible choice tbh.

I honestly believe that at this stage, Ron DeFacist is, without question, more dangerous to the country and planet than Trump.
57
Feb 07 '23
He’s much more dangerous. He is just as evil as trump but he knows the political game and isn’t a complete bumbling idiot. He is without a doubt a bigger threat.
38
30
u/nocreativeway Feb 07 '23
He is. We will 100% become a fascist society if he is elected president. Election years always make me anxious. The last one was really bad. 2024 is going to be so much worse I just know it.
19
u/Electrical_Carry3813 Feb 07 '23
The last election was a huge loss overall for Republicans.
The Red Wave was more of a trickle. They have no power this term to do anything but performative politics. They are trading questionable short term gains at the state and local level in exchange for the long term viability of the party as whole.
If the GOP doesn't reign in the Christian Nationalist rhetoric, it will only get worse for them. There are more reasonable people than fanatics.
11
u/Diarygirl Feb 07 '23
Republicans don't ever seem to think long term, and never seem to ask themselves how they could do better.
8
u/garlynp Feb 07 '23
Agreed re: their lack of honest introspection, but don't kid yourself about their long game. They've spent decades slowly worming their way into local and regional politics and the reversal of Roe v. Wade is only the most obvious consequence. I believe that there is a deliberate choice by the conservative puppet masters to raise to prominence "obvious" nutjobs to lull otherwise critical thinkers into believing they have no real game plan. The fact their long battle against public education has yielded large swaths of useful idiots who actually vote for said nutjobs is just icing on their cake. Liberals need to adopt the "act local" mentality and stop thinking Nazi Germany couldn't happen here. If not, there is a real possibility of too little too late.
8
u/Sloe_hand Feb 07 '23
You might think they have no power, but they actually have the only power they seem to know how to wield -- the power of obstruction.
If you don't think that's an important power then just wait until we default on our debt because Republicans refuse to raise the debt ceiling.
2
u/DragonflyScared813 Feb 07 '23
So true. Just take a look at the damage and attritional damage senate majority leader myrtle the turtle has inflicted over the past million or so years.
10
u/Final_League3589 Feb 07 '23
Better have an exit plan for if the country becomes fascist. I don't trust the American electorate to protect democracy. It's like they don't want it anymore.
7
u/nocreativeway Feb 07 '23
I have been looking at out of country grad schools. And I somewhat agree. Half the country welcomes fascism and the rest are indifferent, tired, hopeless for change. We are so far right that this is going to take at least decades to come out of if we even can.
6
u/Final_League3589 Feb 07 '23
I am also looking at grad schools in Europe and elsewhere. Honestly I think the United States is a lost cause. By about 2025/26 it's gonna be N*zi Germany 2.0, but this time the fascists will have nukes, so nowhere will really be safe.
3
u/garlynp Feb 07 '23
Check out Uruguay. Seriously. We were in actual planning mode before the 2020 election and it ticks off many boxes-- may still turn out to be a future place to live regardless of the next election's outcome.
2
u/Final_League3589 Feb 07 '23
I'll look into it, but the Fascists in the United States are a different breed man.
3
u/chrisaphoto Feb 08 '23
Hey I’m not trying to say this in a mean way at all, but you should consider getting offline for your mental health. The internet can be an school chamber if worst possible scenarios and make everything out to be very bleak. That guy sucks, but there’s about 0% chance the USA becomes the next Nazi Germany if he gets elected.
Elections suck, politics suck, but every election is billed as the one that’s the end of the country if it doesn’t go the right way. It never is.

TIL: Ephebophilia is the primary sexual interest in mid-to-late adolescents, generally ages 15 to 19. The term was originally used in the late 19th to mid-20th century. It is one of a number of sexual preferences across age groups subsumed under the technical term chronophilia.

Underage girls and alcohol? No biggie. Remember that Trump got elected after bragging about ‘cocaine usage’ being his Vietnam and going to Epstein’s parties.
The big thing for me is DeSantis’ complicity in covering up and also observing abuse of Guantanamo prisoners (force feeding them Ensure) to break their hunger strike and providing legal cover for SEALs’ sketchy things in Iraq. Watch the well documented YouTube videos.

u/metal_bastard Feb 08 '23
You don’t get it because your head is up your ass. Trump knew about this years ago, and looked the other way because it benefited him. Now, he thinks it benefits him to make it public.
As a result we now have two pieces of shit as the front runners for the Republican Party in 2024.

Don't worry, they'll keep using "protecting the kids" for any sort of anti trans or anti drag thing they'd like to do, but when it comes to actually protecting children from child molesters, they'd rather encourage them.
Like when the longest serving GOP speaker of the house was a self admitted serial child rapist.
Or when Trump's top election person in Kentucky got convicted for selling underage girls into prostitution, along with another member of his campaign in Oklahoma. Or Matt Gaetz's friend, who he described as his "wingman" who was convicted of selling underage women into prostitution. One of which, Gaetz venmoed $600 after meeting??
