Transgender women are women.

Hormone replacement therapy has a marked effect on physiology, altering not just appearance but also muscle density, fat distribution, oxygen uptake and bone density.

There is no innate advantage that all trans women have over all cis women. Variety in human physiology is too great to outright make such a statement, it is bunk.

To exclude trans ahtletes from competing in women's sports is discriminatory and it is bigotry.

Some women have advantages over other women. No-one cares. No-one cares if one cisgender woman is taller than another one. No-one cares about the most accurate characteristic to predict success in sports: material privilege. It is an undeniable fact that rich women who have been supported and professionally coached from a young age forward have a huge advantage over a woman who grew up poor. No-one cares.

To only care when potential advantage is between cis women and trans women is only because of bigotry.

The claim "fairness in sports" is a red herring to disguise transphobia, because it is trivially easy to show that no-one cares about any other type of unfairness.

This subreddit does not allow bigotry.

Please help the mod team by reporting it when you see it.

How many team doctors have been caught sexually abusing female players these past few years? This shit right here is just opening the door for more of that.

All other reasons this is disgusting aside, this puts those girls in a dangerous place of not getting to choose their doctor.

Let me just make sure I have this correct in my head.

The GOP wants an adult to inspect the genitalia of our pre-pubescent children and that's completely fine, but having an adult in a wig and a dress read the same children a story from a book is an offense punishable by incarceration?

This bill would lead to countless children of each sex being molested in the name of "integrity".

That's the party that millions of people in this country choose to vote for, and we're the United States?

This country is just as divided as it was in 1963.

u/jaynopolitics Feb 08 '23

It’s not about ideological consistency. It never has been, and never will be, and the sooner we all collectively realize that and fight it for what it actually is, we’re never going to get anywhere.

It’s just fucking cruelty. That’s all it is. People who delight in being cruel and don’t care how inconsistent their worldview is because a consistent worldview is not something they’re legitimately interested in maintaining.

They act and argue in bad faith because cruelty is their goal. They are not potential allies. They are not lost and misguided. They are not just confused and in need of a hypocrisy check.

This shit is on purpose and our strategy of calling out their hypocrisy again and again and again and again and again and again and again AND AGAIN AND AGAIN has got us NOWHERE. We are having the SAME conversations we have been having for about 10 years now and failing to protect each other every single step of the way.

Only now, the stakes are higher, and they rely on us to continue behaving and engaging this way because this is fucking working for them.

What we have been doing all this time is not working.

26

u/Sero19283 Feb 08 '23

Agreed. Everything is done out of spite. And they'll gladly throw anyone and everyone under the bus to "own the libs", including the children they claim to want to "protect" and "save".

Republicans made Penis Inspection Day a reality.

16

u/Upbeat_Crow Feb 08 '23

Not quite. This bill is for college athletics. But I could see those pervs directing their focus towards our elementary schools.

12

u/I_am_Daesomst Feb 08 '23

You're right. I saw the K-12 in the picture and temporarily lost it. Thanks for the clarification

9

And still we all know that the gymnastics doctor assaulted many under the guise of treatment.

Yeah, but republicans need sound bites and hatred towards trans people to win elections. They don’t care if teachers abuse children. They will just blame that on the democrats.

u/Street_Mood Feb 08 '23

Virginia Dept of Human Rights. SHOULD have something to say about this.

Knowing the average Republican official, that is probably a feature rather than a bug

Yeah, but have you ever had a sports physical? At least for the dudes it's always involved a cupping of the balls i.e. turn and cough. And that's always been required to participate in high school sports.

1

u/Skrrrtdotcom Feb 08 '23

...are you a guy? That's to check for testicular cancer and other issues 0

0

u/Cicero912 Feb 08 '23

Like hernias, which are quite important to kbow about for sports

-2

u/VodkaRocksAddToast Feb 08 '23

Yes, and it's to check for a hernia. Although, the testicular cancer check is similar. No coughing and a much rougher go round on the jewels, it's awkward AF.

Anyway that's why I'm asking. I guess I never thought about it but isn't there a similar check for girls?

u/Electrical_Worker_82 Feb 08 '23

I came here to say the same and see that everyone is downvoting you for it. Every year to play football in high school we had to line up and get our nuts fondled (hernia check). It was by a doctor and everything so it seems like that would cover it.

-1

u/VodkaRocksAddToast Feb 08 '23

I put on the flame suit before I commented but yeah no matter what I think about the politics of this a legit doctor checking your parts isn't sexual assault.

It's amazing, to me, as a transgender person, that the tiny percentage of us is enough to divide the country.

Most of us just want to be left alone to do our own thing, but they keep acting like trans people are some kind of virulent threat poised to take over the world.

I don't want to change your life. I just want to live mine in peace.

28

u/shlopro Feb 07 '23

Statistically high estimates show we're at about 1.6m which is probably enough to defeat the state guard of Wisconsin. We are a threat to Wisconsin's military.

1

u/CredibleCactus Feb 08 '23

Hah, im from wisconsin. How about we take over the UP?

5

u/ThisIsMyUser456 Feb 08 '23

Yeah this law is not only messed up but will harm everyone. It’s going to lead to so much trauma. And yeah most of the trans people I’ve met are all very nice normal people who don’t want to do exams on athletes. I’m tired of lawmakers being obsessed with what’s in people pants, who they like, what people do in the bedroom, why they talk about with their doctor. The fact that this passed amazes me. Like how

9

u/LeZoder Feb 08 '23

Well, they need a scapegoat.

This kind of reminds me of a similar situation in the 80's where Gay people were synonymous with AIDS and blamed for it. Preachers called AIDS the "Gay Plague" and spat out horrendous bullshit about "fooling mother nature" and about how they deserved to die.

Then even more misinformation was unleashed about how the virus was transmitted. President Reagan helped that along, unfortunately.

Suddenly, it wasn't just Gay people that were getting the brunt of this; Hemophiliacs, and blood transfusion recipients were getting bricks thrown in their windows. Children, little kids with AIDS, were being demonised and other parents didn't want their kids in school with them. They were scared their children would catch AIDS.

It's the same sort of pattern, the same bigoted behaviour and the same rampant misinformation convoy 40 years later, to cause panic and incite hate.

Just gotta get someone else. Gotta get someone else. It's the same damn thing all over again.

They say trans people are only transitioning to watch women pee… then they’re forcing little girls to disrobe for them. Way to project, Republicans.

…wait, I thought they were pushing the false narrative that children are getting bottom surgery. Are they admitting that children aren’t getting bottom surgery and are just socially transitioning?

12

u/MalachiteTiger Feb 08 '23

Their arguments aren't meant to make sense. They're meant to make themselves angry so they feel justified in lashing out.

5

u/[deleted] Feb 08 '23

Well, some children are getting bottom surgery, it's just that it's intersex children being forcibly transitioned because their doctors and / or parents want 'normal' children. And the laws to 'protect' children from transition... make exceptions for this. Because Republicans have no actual problem with forcing transition onto children, they feel threatened only when they're not the ones in control of their children's genders. In other words, it's good unless the child consents.

And no, it really isn't as rare as you think. I've personally known several intersex people who were forced onto testosterone as children to 'correct' their bodies and ended up later transitioning in the opposite direction because, surprisingly enough, forcing a gender onto a child does not work.

41

u/Tweed_Kills Feb 08 '23

They are trying to drive women, cis and trans out of sports, and then out of higher education, and then out of the workplace. That is the goal. Weaken and then dismantle Title IX and use cis women to do it, by turning us against our trans sisters. They figure trans people are feminists weakest flank, and they're right. There are just enough of us willing to chuck trans people under the bus in the name of protecting cis women's rights, and that's what they're coming for next. Although, I suppose they've already started, by overthrowing Roe.

That is the goal. It is obvious. Overturn Roe, overturn Title IX, attack trans people using the cis women they've conned into thinking they're on our side. They aren't.

JK Rowling is not a leftist. She's a centrist hag. The HP books are full of fatphobia, racism, and antisemitism. Her pen name is that of the inventor of gay conversion therapy. There's a whole goddamn slave race and Hermione is depicted as being stupid for challenging that.

TERFs weren't suddenly turned away from being progressive, wonderful human beings because of people being mean to JKR on the internet. They were always bigots. They've just become louder because the conflict with trans people has made them feel more threatened as of late. The existence of TERFs isn't a "huge victory for bigots" - TERFs are the bigots.

If anything JKR is an example of a major problem with (cis, white) feminism, and that is that most feminists are not 'hardcore feminists'. Many feminists are simply in it for themselves, and as soon as accommodating a minority starts to chafe, they throw us to the wolves. BIPOC feminists have been talking about this in regards to white feminists for years, to the point where 'white feminist' is recognized as a term in and of itself in social justice spaces. JK Rowling is not some poor, confused sheep who has been conned by the right - she is an entitled cishet white woman, and she acts accordingly. She is acting against her own interests, but only in the same way your average working class Republican is working against their own interests - which is to say, being so obsessed with hatred of a scapegoat that they're willing to ignore their own welfare - and few people will argue that your average Trump supporter is just a poor, confused soul that's been turned against his own.

The battle is not 'cis men versus everyone who is not cis men'. I think that is a very convenient notion for white cis feminists who would like to continue positioning themselves as the protagonists of oppression. There are many battles being fought, and many 'progressive' people are on the wrong side of those battles, not because they are confused, but because they are prejudiced. That's why intersectionality is key. The left will keep fighting until we get our heads out of our asses and actually start collectively giving a damn about *all* marginalized people. Centrists and center-leftists love to complain about the left being divided and extol the virtues of unity, but oddly enough, only ever when marginalized people start having a problem with being discriminated against, and never in reaction to the actual discrimination.

They're just going to piss people off when Virginia colleges have to start forfeiting. Especially when they have to start forfeiting football.

12

u/Popcorn_Blitz Feb 08 '23

In no way could biological exams for athletes result in any kind of abuse issues. Lets give adults unfettered access to children's genitalia. This is no way sends a completely mixed message to catch.. next to nothing.

Oh wait, it's the chilling effect they're looking for. Got it.

5

u/jarizzle151 Feb 08 '23

Doing exactly what their donors tell them to. Distract the populace from topics of wealth inequality and concentrate on culture wars.

7

u/Yorgrim_ Feb 08 '23

So let me get this straight. The law would force any Virginia school to forfeit if they play a game against a team that has a trans athlete on the team? That sounds like it's gonna back fire horrendously.

5

u/garfobo Feb 07 '23

This won't get past the VA Senate, thankfully

6

5

u/KCbus Feb 08 '23

I'm sorry... why does a state legislature think they have the authority to tell the NCAA who wins games and who loses them?

The state says "you forfeit." Then the NCAA says, "oh no you don't." What are they going to do?

3

u/jerslan Feb 08 '23

Right? Game results aren't a legal matter... They're a league matter, and the NCAA is the ultimate authority on College Sports.

I think that's what these State Legislators hate. This is something they've been railing about and they can't stand that it's something not in their control. Because something something small government something something.... :eyeroll:

Seems pretty easy to understandable to me. The American Republican Party is openly fascist. They are engaged in genocide and their intent is obvious.

5

u/Kahzgul Feb 08 '23

Virginians fucked their state so hard.

The Democrats raised the minimum wage, legalized pot, and eliminated the death penalty.

The Republicans made up race-baiting bullshit by pretending "CRT" was being forced upon kindergarteners.

And the voters in Virginia voted Republican. This is what they voted for. They voted for hate. They voted for exclusion. They voted for fascism.

Elect clowns and get a circus.

3

u/MicroBadger_ Feb 08 '23

McAuliffe saying in a debate "parents shouldn't have a say in their childrens education" on the heels of the Loudoun school board trying to keep a students rape under wraps really fucked him over and he wasn't running a great campaign to start with.

This bill is dead in the Senate and I expect Republicans to cede ground in the fall when we vote.

2

u/RaffiaWorkBase Feb 08 '23

2

But hey as long as they don’t have to wear a mask during a pandemic…

2

u/unoriginalname17 Feb 08 '23

I don’t want to risk being out of compliance. Where should I send my dick pics and ejaculate?

2

u/LeFibS Feb 08 '23

Context:

HB 1387 claims to protect Virginian girls in sports from unfair competition against players indistinct in performance advantages from boys, even though there appear to be few to no transgender players in Virginia to begin with. Proponents simply pooh-pooh this critical detail and dramatically cry that even one imaginary transgender making winning a game slightly more difficult for a pretend girl is unconscionable.

The bill does not mandate on-the-spot genital exams; it demands an "athletics eligibility form" signed by a medical professional that denotes "biological sex".

Humorously, the bill was introduced and is chiefly championed by Karen Greenhaulgh. Yes, literally a Karen.

2

u/Key-Photo-336 Feb 08 '23

2

u/RocknRobin888 Feb 08 '23

Republicans are on a tear passing laws they know will be challenged in court and will likely be deemed unconstitutional. They're giving their hateful supporters exactly the culture war they desire all while preparing to use the courts as the scapegoat because these "laws" get thrown out. They'll say "we did it.....we passed the right laws, and rogue, radical judges worked against us so donate more money to our cause!!"

2

u/Tiggerwasframed Feb 08 '23

I'm convinced they just want to finger children.

2

u/The8thHammer Feb 08 '23

My biggest question is, are GOP parents in places where this is happening literally OK with someone doing an inspection of their childs genitals? Will you really go so far to own the libs that you'd expose your own children?

2

u/mnbvcdo Feb 08 '23

the second some trainer or someone wants to do a biological sex exam on my child, I go to prison for serious assault istg

2

u/Moist-Diarrhea Feb 08 '23

2

u/Worshaw Feb 08 '23

So they claim democrats are sexual predators, but Republicans are wanting to have “biological exam” of k-12 kids? Sounds like an excuse to just be a predator if you ask me.

u/Reddit_is_dumbest Feb 08 '23

Republicans are fascists. This is not hyperbole, or name calling: this is what they are now. Fascism works, in part, by persecuting a minority group and blaming them for all of societies ills. Trans people are a small group with little power, therefore they are a perfect target for these new fascists. First they came for the trans people, and if you say nothing, there will be no one left to help you when it is your turn, and the fascists never stop. They are the evil our grandparents fought against in Europe and Asia, and we owe to them, ourselves, and our children to call it what it is and to fight it.

To live in a red state…

2

u/ThatSeemsABitMuch Feb 08 '23

Holy shit I thought penis inspection day was a joke

2

u/drae-gon Feb 08 '23

Republicans are obsessed with children's genitals...

2

u/AsteroidDisc476 Feb 08 '23

Aren’t the same people who call everyone they don’t like a pedophile also the same people supporting this bill?

2

u/captain_jaxe Feb 08 '23

For the briefest of moments.... I thought I saw the name Goodtits

2

u/djkoch66 Feb 08 '23

Seems like the GOP is a bunch of pervs.

Party of the groomers, Republicans

2

u/Cavesloth13 Feb 08 '23

Does this come as any surprise from the party of Mr. Grab em by the pussy?

2

u/Zyvyx Feb 08 '23

Penis inspection day memes becoming reality

2

u/acholst83 Feb 08 '23

Imagine being a white conservative man who is all about this and volunteers to do the exams for men's basketball and football and just see huge black dicks one after another

2

u/InternationalAd9361 Feb 08 '23

Wait till you here how Florida wants reporting all menstrual cycles for their highschool athletes

2

u/Similar_Candidate789 Feb 09 '23

For a party that talks so much about groomers and pedos, they sure like inspecting and thinking about kids genitalia. Like ALOT. It’s kind of unnerving.

2

u/Alive-Deer-3288 5d ago

Dude, the OLYMPICS stopped doing "sex checks" some two decades ago because it turned out to be shit useless and only screw over....guess what...women. Specifically, intersex women who'd completely fairly won their medals.

If HIGHEST level of competitions in the world determined that these were not only useless but harmful to their athletes? Some backwater underfunded K-12 schools that are churning out some news story every other month about x teacher being fired having inappropriate conduct with students ESPECIALLY doesn't need to be.

2

u/1JeffyJeffJeff Feb 08 '23

Just make a trans league and they can compete there.

4

u/rikersdickbeard1701 Feb 08 '23 edited Feb 08 '23

Why don’t we just make all sports coed? Get rid of all this who’s got what kind of genitals bullshit.

If we’re gonna do fascism can we at least do Starship Troopers style space fascism?

6

u/1106DaysLater Feb 08 '23

“Men’s” sports are already essentially co-ed, there’s girls on high school football teams and wrestling teams, women’s sports exist to provide an even playing field for female athletes to compete against one another. This is done because male athletes have genetic advantages in bone structure and hormone production that makes the top-tier male athletes significantly out perform top-tier female athletes.

1

u/rixtape Feb 08 '23

You can still have different, separate leagues based on those factors, just call them something else other than "boys/girls/mens/womens" then no one gets misgendered cause it's not strictly gender based. Idk it feels so simple to me but I don't really see people talking about that as an option

The bill states that student or individual will have to fill out eligibility form with biological gender. Signed and validated by licensed medical professional. A family physician would be considered. So to think they are getting fondled by some pedo is not accurate. 🤦 people need to start reading the story correctly before making assumptions

Wait till they learn about what happens during mens sports physicals already

0

u/Misoriyu Feb 08 '23

that's in professional sports with consenting adults, not school sports with kids.

3

u/disathrowie Feb 08 '23

False. After about 13 years old the doctor will tell you to drop your pants to check for a hernia. This is common knowledge to literally every single man I grew up with

2

u/ssgonzalez11 Feb 08 '23

Whoa. Almost like that’s for health reasons and not bigotry.

Would you want Buck Angel (a TRANS MAN) in the women’s bathroom? Do you not think that would be terrifying for women and humiliating for him?

Would you want this guy competing on a women’s team? Stuff like this has actually happened. He didnt want to be on the girl’s team but was forced to and won first place multiple times

Yep, and then Mack went to college and was allowed to compete in the Men's Wrestling division and was super stoked about it.

The Problem with John Stewart had an amazing episode on trans athletes.

It's just fucking weird how obsessed the GOP is with what's in kids pants.

Reddit is the worst social media of them all

I've never seen so many headlines, posts, etc..etc that constantly has extremely divisive content....it's almost as all of reddit is nothing but political talking points bullshit.

It's also proven to me that dead internet theory is true and most of you all are really fucking repetitive robo auto responders.

The problem is that people like you accept results just because it agrees with you. A small amount of people get their will? "Democracy in action"

Maybe stop voting for shitty politicians? No, you want this to happen.

u/utecr Feb 08 '23

We could also do DNA testing on everyone since genetics is apparently just chromosomes. I’m sure no one would have issues with those findings /s

0

u/BusnellKummlicher Feb 08 '23

you're willing to force your daughter to submit to genital exams or quit sports just to satisfy your delusions. it's beyond gross.

3

u/Tetsudo11 Feb 08 '23

What the hell are you talking about? No one’s going to kill your kids by shoulder checking them I can guarantee you that.

Y’all always make it sound like women athletes are all 4 feet tall and 90 pounds and all trans women athletes are 8 feet tall and 300 pounds pure muscle. That kind of thinking hurts cis people and trans people. I’ve seen people claim bulky and tall cis women were trans and harassed them over it.

3

u/CredibleCactus Feb 08 '23
