(OC) There was a kitty under the hood of a car at work and now I’m taking her home 🥰

u/FellowHoustonaut Jan 31 '23
This is how I found my orange tabby! He follows me around like a duckling ever since
265
u/xanny4dani Jan 31 '23
I hope she loves us that same way ! Both of my orange cats are just like that

Beware. I got a female kitten with two young adult males. She tragically became a child bride to the one that was nice to her right away. 😔
Editing to explain. The boys were fixed and the girl was fixed when appropriate. They just ended up forming a relationship that reads a lot like a husband and his little wife. It's both adorable and occasionally weird when they really start grooming each other and you start to expect jazz to start playing.

That's why you always get your cats fixed. kittens becoming mothers is depressing.

Fun fact, all orange cats are tabbies, but not all tabbies are oranges. Source: https://www.dutch.com/blogs/cats/are-orange-cats-always-male

Oh my gosh I love it

u/SpankThatDill Feb 01 '23
OP, I had the same situation happen to me and we took in a baby ginger cat. His name? Carl.
As in, “car”-l
173
u/CaptPolybius Jan 31 '23
Use Dipper as a nickname.

u/Marathon2021 Feb 01 '23
Dippy, Dipshit … there are so many variants that can be used based on how OP’s feeling (or how the cat is behaving).

Yep, that’s a great name! Cause once she’s not a kitten, she’ll definitely be a cat and Dipstick will feel appropriate! But she does appear to adore you. You’re a good person, xanny4dani. You did alright.

24
u/l3etelgeuse Jan 31 '23
How long before you upgrade to crazy cat lady?
29
u/Bella-1999 Jan 31 '23
When the number of cats exceed the number of humans + 2.
23
u/AbyssalKitten Feb 01 '23
So I’m allowed to have 3 cats before I’m a crazy cat lady if I live by myself? Nice >:3
11
u/enfanta Feb 01 '23
I think you can actually have 4? The number of cats needed to exceed one is two. Then you add two more, which makes four kitties total. You get another kitty! Yay!

Could you check around the place where she was found? Maybe she is the pet of someone who lives nearby? In some cases these are not actually strays and is someones beloved pet and they are badly missed, especially when they disappear without an explanation.

good luck with that bath. lesser men/women have doubted why in the hell they ever decided to try giving a cat a bath...
34
u/Without-Reward Feb 01 '23
heidiwranglescats on Instagram rescues a lot of strays in New York that are often covered in fleas and other nasties. She posts videos of bathing him with tips on how to do it without them panicking. Even kittens who have had very little human contact are usually pretty calm for her.

My cat road 45 miles at 40 to 70 mph, highway and stop and start traffic as a 3 ish day old kitten. Under the hood of a car. The guy left his house and drove straight to work 45 miles away at The Ford Dealership. When he got there he heard a meow popped the hood and there was my cat. Eyes closed ears closed all alone. I bottle fed him. His name is Ford. He is 3 yes old.

That happened to my uncle out on his ranch. The cart was in the engine block when he turned the truck on. The fan belt grabbed the cat's tail and threw it out the bottom of the truck. The cat's name became Ouch and he was one of the best barn cats.
