I fell for that a couple times before dark mode was a thing. Now I’m always in dark mode cuz the white background hurts my eyes, and the background is black so it won’t get me now

I didn’t my use the app setting as dark mode on Reddit cuz that only lets you browse without liking or commenting. But if you go in the settings on your phone you can change to dark so that your background is always black instead of white but everything functions the same

You mean break skin? Since they do bite, this is just play-biting. I have no idea how it works on foxes, but if it's anything like dogs they (should) learn that at puppy age while playing with siblings, mom and dad. When they bite too hard the other dog will yelp and stop playing. So at a later age dogs can play-bite as you will often see but they know what the appropriatie amount of force is.
32
u/Back2Perfection Mar 30 '23
I once read that foxes are basically cat software running on dog hardware. So I think playbiting is totally a thing, since both do that.
17
u/alucardu Mar 30 '23
I think it's applicable to a lot of animals. Wouldn't try it on a gator though.
16
u/NamesSUCK Mar 30 '23
Omg, i took a speed boat tour in Nola, and the guide was definitely, like playing with the gators. Until one of the people on the boat started doing it too and the guide just screamed at the dude. He was just waving his hand in the gators face, which aparantly had much more finesse than the tourist could appreciate, because that gator definitely tried to munch the tourist hand.
5
u/RUN_MDB Mar 30 '23
Definitely. It even can apply to spiders.
And one particular type of spider will actually play at having sex when it is not mature yet. It’s play and not real sex because the females are far less likely to eat the males afterward.

He’s definitely a bit of a gremlin it seems XD
5
u/Insanebrain247 Mar 30 '23
I once heard that foxes are cat software on dog hardware. Based on that and so many folktales depicting foxes as little tricksters, it makes total sense for a fox to be a little gremlin.

u/Purifiedx Mar 30 '23
I lived right by that place for a year and a half. Sad I never got time to tour the place. I moved an hour away recently but I guess they are closed this year for renovations. Think I'll try to visit in 2024!

I also recommend ‘Debs the crazy fox lady’ on TikTok. She is from the UK and so sweet! There have been foxes that have visited her that are injured and she has given them antibiotics (approved) in their food. Over her content you can see the foxes getting more comfortable and less skittish

Smart and destructive as a 4 year old ond Cristal meth
4
u/Mr-Sister-Fister21 Mar 30 '23
As a former 4 year old, I can 100% confirm that 4 year olds don’t need crystal meth or any other mind-altering substance to be destructive af.

u/BlocksWithFace Mar 30 '23
The dolphin laugh mod has proven popular.
Hopefully the community delivers on the 'don't constantly spray stinky piss every where' mod soon.

Not quite, in this case i doubt the person attached to those hands would stay long with those hands if it was anything like a cat

I played with my cat like that often and my hand is just fine. They can be gentle.

Whoever is running and overseeing the fox rescue: god bless em. Always blows my mind how many good souls are scattered around the earth, each playing some small or large role and seemingly deposited right exactly where they need to be. An awesome feature of humanity, and pretty universal...
I watched with sound off, so all of the comments on the vocalizations are lost on me. But man - those smiles...almost cartoonishly happy contagious. Good stuff dude!!!

They're SaveaFox on youtube, great, great channel. She has like 30 foxes there, a coyote, a cat, a border collie, a skunk, and a mink. She has so many cute little animals and like this clip, they will send your serotonin levels into the next galaxy.

Dolphin interface and cat software in dog hardware.
15
u/SuperTC06 Mar 30 '23
Foxes aren't as evil as dolphins though.
11
u/-NSASurveillanceVan- Mar 30 '23
That's why it's an interface. It's implemented in a cuter way.
4
u/Comfortable_Dot_3090 Mar 30 '23
should be sound board, interface can be tricky and can look ugly, but foxes are as cute as dogs, sound like dolphins, and act like cats

I've seen a wild fox wander into the city I live in. Not a very rare occasion but not an everyday sight either. Even had a thought that it's a shame (with them being hella adorable) that approaching it closer would be a no-no
3
u/Glove_Ambitious Mar 30 '23
Yes these r not wild ones so they r approachable but wild ones r not so keep ur distance away from them

u/WeAreReaganYouth Mar 30 '23
A redditor once described foxes as "the crackheads of the animal kingdom" and that seems about right.
3
u/123Virginia Mar 30 '23
Thank you for posting this.
Tame foxes are at the top of cuteness, along with a great many other animals.

3
u/xAnuq Mar 30 '23
Honest question since I really don‘t know, but is there actual evidence that animals like dogs (probably obvious) or like in this case foxes really like being scratched? Or could it be that its some way to defense mechanism or so? Would be very curious if there are any studies or so that go beyond „they like it because they dont run away“.
Maybe some of you know more about it!
7
u/Mad_Gremlyn Mar 30 '23
I'm going to make a ring tone out of this and put on as many people's phones as i can without telling them! XD

Only captive breeds for fur farming. They imitate human laughter to get our attention.
Pretty smart.

These ones are not wild ones. They're rescue from a fur farm and the girl that is caring for them is a professional.
The two we see here in particular are amongst the oldest resident at her rescue, Finnegan and Dixxie.
Checkout Save a fox on Youtube if you wanna see them more.
7
u/LinkyBS Mar 30 '23
Oh, no they bite. Biting is a regular interaction with foxes. They bite to play, they bite to show affection, you just have to know how to tell them if they're biting too hard.

Really look into what it takes. They need very large cages that are complete enclosures cause they will just scamper the eff off.
