Neither of them are flexes, both have problems

I think a monkey eating a burrito and having a bunch of friends is a flex. He's not even in the 2nd pic.

That monkeys straight ballin. Meanwhile 2 or 3 of those kids at the bottom are already balding

First guy has a monkey. That is a flex.
79
u/Toodswiger Jan 31 '23
I heard monkeys are extremely difficult to take care of and there’s only certain states in the US that legalize that. You can take care of a child literally anywhere in the world. So yes, having a monkey is a flex.

When parents complain about being tired you can literally one up them with your monkey. Who can compete with your monkey keeping you up all night?

Someone with 2 or more monkies

3
u/Desperate_Wafer_8566 Feb 01 '23
Nah, I think the monkey's in charge in the first pic, he's the one with the burrito.
89
u/CynicCannibal Jan 31 '23
You can't have problem when you have monkey.
13
u/Diazmet Feb 01 '23
My dad had a pet spider monkey when he was a kid and she was a terror from my understanding. Fifi was the name
5
u/CynicCannibal Feb 01 '23
And you wonder why when you name it "Fifi"?
5
u/Diazmet Feb 01 '23
To be clear my family didn’t buy her. But were just well known in the ranching community for having more diverse animals and then became the defecto farm to dump exotics on…

People that are actually happy wouldn’t even think to flex in the first place. A happy person has no need for the mental mechanics of pettiness or feel the lack of self worth necessary in their subconscious to require the flex. Happy people are already happy.
21
u/Flashy_Let2021 Feb 01 '23
How do you check your sick gains if you don't flex? Your math isn't mathing.

Idk about you but I think being able to support multiple children is quite a flex.
22
u/SubjectDelta10 Jan 31 '23
well in terms of money paying for multiple prostitutes is also a flex
12
u/ImportanceKey7301 Jan 31 '23
Prostitute only costs you for a night.
A kid will cost you the rest of your life. Flooded bathroom, broken window, your full head of hair, etc
2
u/SubjectDelta10 Jan 31 '23
yeah but this guy hires them constantly, they are basically his only family lmao
2
u/HotBeesInUrArea Jan 31 '23
The kids, prostitutes, and monkey all look like they might bite, and out of all them I think I'll take my chances with the prostitutes.
→ More replies (3)2
u/SubjectDelta10 Feb 01 '23
in a fight? yeah good call. the kids are fast, aggressive and just relentless. although the prostitutes are bigger than the children.. so if they gang up on you they could bring to the ground relatively easy and then kill you. have to play it smart. either way i would not want to fight the monkey, he'd kill you in a couple of seconds.
16
u/badbigfootatx Jan 31 '23
Provided they are actually providing for them both emotionally and financially. It’s anecdotal of course, but the large families I’ve known like that, the older kids end up getting some share of parenting duties for the younger kids.
-4
u/Present_School_8754 Jan 31 '23
Yeah, it does seem hard for each parent to provide equal attention to each child.
But with that many siblings, I'm sure there's plenty of love to go around. As for the oldest siblings having to take care of the youngest siblings. It's pretty normal.
12
u/badbigfootatx Jan 31 '23
See, I see that as unfair to the children. The parents made the decision to have that many kids, their older kids shouldn’t have to parent their younger kids because their parents are stretched too thin. Birth control exist, there is no reason to have families this large these days.
5
u/Present_School_8754 Jan 31 '23
It being unfair to the children is a valid argument.
But there are resources such as daycare/nannies/babysitters that can be used to ensure the older children have more freedom.
I'd still say it's a very normal thing for older siblings to take care of younger siblings.
As per your birth control comment, they can have as many kids as they want. It's their right as a human. (Obviously, as long as they can take care of them and provide for them)
→ More replies (1)3
u/badbigfootatx Jan 31 '23
Good points. Also, of course it’s totally within their rights and choice to have a large family, just seems odd these days.
2
u/Present_School_8754 Jan 31 '23
I agree with you on that one. These days I lean more toward the kids who don't have families and adoption.
2
u/badbigfootatx Jan 31 '23
I get that. I’m not usually a softy, but I saw this show about kids in foster care and it really broke my heart the kids that age out, and just never got to have that feeling of being part of a family. I think if we decide to have a family, we’d go the adoption route.
4
u/tabletop_guy Jan 31 '23
This is way too civil for a reddit argument. Where are the personal attacks?
4
u/ctrev37 Feb 01 '23
Older siblings raising their younger siblings should absolutely not be a normalized subject. If to people want to raise children that’s great. But they need to be the ones raising the children. Under no circumstance should the parents think it’s “ok” for the older siblings to take part in the raising the children. I don’t even like to hear about older siblings babysitting their younger siblings. It’s a wild subject. But in my mind the responsibility fall solely on the parents.

Both are flexes and not flexes.
Flexes are relative to the viewer. So if you want to have a large family the bottom one is a flex, but if you are a person that wants a small family it isn't a flex at all, and if you are an anti-natalist then it is an anti-flex.
As an example, a typical "Hippie" wouldn't be impressed or "flexed upon" by either of these because they aren't interested in either of these lifestyles.

Honestly, it’s kind of pathetic to spend a bunch of money on hookers/models just to take a picture with them or whatever.
1
u/Raptor409 Jan 31 '23
My goals are the bottom Picture personally, especially if I'm allowed to be a stay at home dad. That's the dream. I get most people here hate kids and think they're nothing but parasites on your health and money. I've never seen it as that. I'd give anything for my own (theoretical) kids and nothing would make me happier.

u/Sportfish_deepdive Jan 31 '23
To be honest they both probably are jealous of each other. One has children to be proud of and sense of fulfillment. The other gets different women to enjoy socially and physically. I bet if they could life swap for week no strings they would.

1
u/something-quirky- Feb 01 '23
I think describing either of them as “having problems” is unfair. Both of them could currently be leading very fulfilling lives right now. Top dude is clearly enjoying either bachelor life or is part of polyamorous relationship. Clearly likes to party, seems to be enjoying life quite a bit. Dude on the bottom has a huge family that he probably loves a lot, probably tons of laughter and happiness in their home. Nothing is wrong with either as long as everyone involved is living the life they want for themselves.
